It’s been a very long time since multi-award winning South African Afro-pop music group, Malaika released new music, let alone an album. Their last release was "The Best Of Malaika" back in 2011.

The two remaining members of the group, Bongani Nchang and Tshedi Mholo have since went their separate ways to focus on solo careers following a split that was fuelled by “betrayal”. They lost bandmate, Jabu Ndaba in 2008 due to TB.

According to Sunday World, Nchang and the whole Malaika band had left Tshedi behind to go perform in Rustenburg back in 2011. Mismanagement of funds and changing of managers also didn’t help their situation.

Malaika is reportedly an album short of their contract to Sony, to which Mholo says differences between her and Nchang have to be resolved first before they come back together.

Sony’s marketing manager, Maria Hadjidimitriadis told Sunday World that there were “positive developments” where the duo is concerned and when there’s something new, an announcement would be made.

Could this mean we'll be getting a new album from Malaika? We hope so!
