Funerals are usually a sad occasion, and mourners are usually sombre and depressed. Well, not in Ghana – there a funeral is an opportunity to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Most funerals are held on the weekends and mourners usually dress in black or black and red traditional funeral clothing. In turn they expect the bereaved families to provide food, drinks, music and dance.

The extravagance also extends to the caskets, which are usually brightly colored and elaborate.
