Agang SA’s chairperson Mike Tshishonga has laid a criminal charge against the party’s leader.

The New Age reports that Agang SA’s chairperson Mike Tshishonga has laid a criminal charge against the party’s leader, Mamphela Ramphele.

Tshishonga alleges that Ramphele fraudulently has direct access to party funds.

Party insiders told the New Age that Ramphele opened a bank account to directly access Independent Electoral Commission deposits without a mandate from the party.

“She must step down until all these issues are sorted out,” Agang SA spokesperson Donald Tontsi said.

In February, Ramphele created huge divisions in the party when she announced that she would be standing as the DA’s presidential candidate. Many members complained that she hadn’t informed the party of the decision and hadn’t discussed it with members.

Agang SA secured 52,350 votes, or 0.28% of the vote in the national elections.
