Reeva's dad suffers stroke - report

Just days before Oscar Pistorius goes on trial for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, her father has reportedly suffered a second stroke.

The Times reported on Friday that Barry Steenkamp apparently had a light stroke earlier this week. He suffered a first stroke at the end of January.

The Steenkamp family's lawyer, Dup de Bruyn, confirmed that he has recovered reasonably well and is recuperating at his Port Elizabeth home, but it is a traumatic time for him and the rest of his family. The anniversary of Reeva's death, on 14 February, and the upcoming murder trial have taken their toll on the family, according to the report.

Barry Steenkamp will not be attending the start of Pistorius's trial in Pretoria on Monday, but his wife, June, will be there, supported by family and friends.
