Rhythm City's juicy love triangle

IT WAS fate that brought them back together. When she left Joburg for a quiet life in KwaZulu-Natal, Thembi thought she’d said goodbye to Sbu and the haunting memories of her mother’s death.

But when she returned not even a hot new boyfriend could stop her and Sbu from rekindling their love – although that new beau of hers isn’t about to give up without a fight.

The scene is set for a delicious love triangle and fans of e.tv’s Rhythm City are delighted – their favourite soapie just got a whole lot more interesting. And adding fuel to the fire is the little matter of life imitating art . . .

Mmabatho Montsho (26), the gorgeous actress who plays Thembi, and Lungile Radu, the sexy star who brings Sbu to life, are a couple in real life – at least, that’s what the tabloids are saying. The pair have gone so far as to admit they “were in a relationship” but refuse to confirm or deny whether they are still an item.

But a close friend told a Sunday newspaper the good-looking twosome “are so in love. They’ve been keeping this under wraps but I think in time they will announce it officially.”

Naturally we try to ask Mmabatho about all this when we get her together with her other handsome co-star, Fezile Makhanya – he plays Lucas, the third member of the triangle who is desperately vying for Thembi’s affections.

But we have no luck – she just clams up. Sorry, she says, she won’t talk about affairs of the heart. We’ll have to keep our eyes and ears open then – and watch closely when Sbu and Thembi get up close and personal on the small screen. Those cosy scenes the two of them find themselves in – hmm, so much chemistry going down there . . .
