The legendary Robbie Malinga pulled off an outstanding show on Friday, joined on stage by current and former artists he had worked with in the past.

Each artist had to say a word or two about Robbie based on their experience with him and they all said the same thing - it is easy to work with him as he is generally a calm person. The crowd listened to music from the 90s and were entertained by stories about how the artists met Robbie and how he helped them kick-start their music careers.  The artists’ loyalty towards Robbie is amazing and they all had nothing but good things to say about him.

The event was delayed for over an hour but the performances were worth the wait. Each artist performed a song- new or old - then said a few words before getting off the stage.  The supporting artists for the night were Karabo from Idols SA, Naima Kay, Musa, Sifiso and Ntando.

When Robbie got on stage he performed a song he did with each artist and said a few words about them.

Although Kelly Khumalo was also due to perform, there was no explanation for her absence. Earlier in the day she posted photos on social networks saying she was on her way to Cape Town. When Robbie performed Sobabili, Musa nailed Kelly’s part.

All performances had the crowds standing up and singing along but they saved the biggest cheer when Musa got on stage, followed by Robbie.  The duo ended the night with a show-stopping performance of the song Mthande.

Robbie Malinga remains a force to be reckoned in Mzansi and this talented producer can still rake in the fans. Last night’s performance proved it.
