Western Province rugby player Cheslin Kolbe has been arrested at a roadblock in Gordon's Bay for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, Beeld reported on Wednesday.

Kolbe, 20, who was also a junior Springbok and played in his first Currie Cup final two weeks ago, was arrested at the weekend.

He was released on R500 bail and would appear in court again on August 13 next year.

His lawyer advocate Wallis Roux told the paper they were waiting for the results of Kolbe's blood tests and then would advise him on the way forward.
