The Court of Arbitration for Sport will on Thursday announce its ruling on Luis Suarez' appeal against a ban for biting an opponent during the World Cup.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport will on Thursday announce its ruling on Luis Suarez' appeal against a ban for biting an opponent during the World Cup. The CAS said in a short statement Wednesday that the decision is to be published at around 1pm GMT Thursday.

Suarez was banned for nine competitive Uruguay internationals and four months overall from football by the ruling body FIFA for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup match in June. It was his third career biting offence.

Suarez, the Uruguay football federation and his new club Barcelona have appealed the punishment before CAS, saying it is too harsh. A hearing, which Suarez attended, was conducted on Friday.

The international ban makes him ineligible for the 2015 Copa America, while the general suspension, which excludes him from training with his Barça team-mates, runs until October 25. Barcelona's first Spanish league match is on August 24.
