President Jacob Zuma casted his vote at Ntolwane Primary School in KwaNxamalala in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal. He urged those who are still at home to go and cast their votes. “My vote must make a difference here, Nkandla, where I was born and I will be buried,” said Zuma.

Democratic Alliance leader, Mmusi Maimane voted at Allen Glen High School in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg. He said, “The future of South Africa will be decided through the ballot box. Democracy means that you can choose your government, you can hire one, you can remove another one and we use the ballot for that purpose. South Africans must come out in their numbers to vote,” Maimane said.

The Congress of the People leader, Mosiuoa Lekota, voted in Bloemfontein. Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema is expected to cast his vote at Mponegele Primary School in Seshego, Limpopo later today.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mondli Gungubele voted at Dawn Park in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg. He said, “I am generally happy with the efficient proceedings across all voting stations in Ekurhuleni. I therefore call upon all citizens to come out in numbers to vote for the party of their choice while there is still time.”

Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Danny Jordaan voted in Port Elizabeth. Jordaan said the high turnout at the polling station demonstrates peoples’ enthusiasm and readiness to cast their vote.

ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe cast his vote at Freeway Primary School in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg. ANC Treasurer-General Zweli Mkhize voted at Willowfontein in Pietermaritzburg. The DA’s mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, voted at the Sandton fire station voting station.

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille is expected to cast her vote at St Paul’s Church in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
