Scammers offer fake policing jobs

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is warning South Africans about an online recruitment scam currently operating in the country.

The scammers are inviting unsuspecting job seekers to apply for bogus Police Trainee Posts.

The SAPS advises the public not to fall for the scam. There has not been any new advertisement from SAPS for entry level trainees and there are currently no vacant posts available for aspiring police officers.

The SAPS wants the public to know that they do not advertise any posts via SMS. Legitimate posts are advertised in newspapers and free application forms are available at all police stations.

In a press statement the SAPS says they are investigating the matter.

“We view this scam in a very serious light and have instituted an investigation to find the perpetrators. Those who have fallen victims of these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station,” the statement read.
