International R&B superstar Seal chose South Africa as the first country to kick-start his 12-country world tour.

He performed at the TicketPro Dome in Joburg on Sunday.

Speaking at a press junket, the 53-year old star said he loves South Africa, because “it’s a progressive country, so it was a natural choice for me to want to come here first”.

The four-time Grammy Award winner spoke fondly about Africa and also mentioned the fact that his parents hail from the continent.

“South Africans are very warm people and I must say, I think the accent is very sexy. I know from experience, because I once dated a South African woman and I thought her accent was very sexy,” he chuckled.

Local singer Bucie, who was also present at the press briefing, was put under the spotlight by the Kiss from a Rose singer when he said he was listening to her this morning while he was jogging.

“I like her music, she’s a great singer and artist,” he said.

These kind words drove Bucie to tears. “This is very special to me, it’s a great moment indeed as he has been mentioning me throughout his interviews,” a teary-eyed Bucie told us.

Catch Seal at the ICC Durban Arena tomorrow and in Cape Town at the Grand West Arena on Thursday.
