Serena Williams leads womens' ranking

Serena Williams of the United States continued to top the women's tennis rankings ahead of Cincinnati winner Victoria Azarenka in the list released Monday by the WTA.

Azarenka of Belarus defeating Williams 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) in the Cincinnati WTA tournament final Sunday, and improves to 9,505 points, with the American moving up to 12,260.

Russia's Maria Sharapova stays third, while Sara Errani of Italy moves up a place to fifth and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark gains two places to 10th.
