If you’re trying to have a baby, the secret might be in your dress size!

Researchers from Harvard University in America’s School of Public Health recently revealed that women who lost roughly 5kg’s conceived two weeks faster than those whose weight remained the same, reports the Daily Mail.

The researchers studied 1950 women between the ages of 19 and 40.

According to their findings, women who lost weight fell pregnant within two and a half months of trying, while their counterparts took three months or longer. This applied even to women who were already slim and not in need of weight loss.

Researchers are yet to determine exactly why the weight-loss aided conception, but suspect it may be linked to eggs of a higher quality being produced and the womb lining being more fertile if the woman loses weight.

The study was presented at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual convention which was recently held in Hawaii.
