The collision between Mhere and Naidoo's vehicle happened in the early hours of January 31.

The man whose vehicle allegedly crashed into that of Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere, instantly killing him, appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

While the trial of Preshalin Naidoo, 21, was expected to get underway, the case was postponed to August 26 after a brief appearance.

The collision between Mhere and Naidoo's vehicle happened in the early hours of January 31 along William Nicol Drive, north of Johannesburg.

Mhere's best friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan also died in the collision, while Mhere's father, Joseph, survived.

Mhere's rise to fame happened after the 26-year-old won a presenter search competition in 2010, landing him a job on the lifestyle television programme.
