Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba, will today open the first all-women owned oil plant at Marble Hall Plant, in Limpopo.

After the awarding of the five year supply of fuel oil contract by Eskom, Econ Oil seized the opportunity to enhance its product offering and entrench itself as a supplier of fuel oil by developing a blending plant in Marble Hall.

The company already supplies 16 million litres of fuel per month to several power stations in Mpumalanga. It is a 100% black women-owned, the first of its kind in the country.

Gigaba says Econ is a direct beneficiary, and a living example of transformation policies championed by the Department of Public Enterprises.

“The opening of the Marble Hall fuel plant shows just how much small business can prosper when anchored by State Owned Companies,” he says.
