Sjava's excitement to perform in front of thousands at the Afro Goes East concert was short lived.

This after the musician's performance was cut short at the recent event.

Sjava (born Jabulani Hadebe) took to stage after Musa Sukwene, but didn't even perform past one song.

"I am very excited to be here," he said as he was getting ready to perform. "I have never performed for such a big audience - I am so happy."

The crowd jammed to his hit Ek'seni, but as he was preparing to sing his second song his mic was switched off. Background music started playing - a signal for him to leave the stage.

A source, who was part of the organisers, confirmed that Sjava's set was cut due to the scheduling running behind time.

"It wasn't about trying to sabotage him or anything - we were running late and had to cut the sets shorter

Sjava didn't say anything about the incident, taking time to pose for pictures with fans.
