South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards Nominees announced

Guests thronged Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng for what was hailed as a successful launch party for the South African Traditional Music Awards.

In many ways, the Nominees Gala Dinner’s supposed to be a dry run for the big event happening later on in the year, however, guests thronged Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng for what was hailed as a successful launch party for the South African Traditional Music Achievement awards.

Bokone Bophirima Premier, Supra Mahumapelo was guest of honour. Also in attendance, advocate Sonwabile Mancotywa who is the CEO of the South African National Heritage Council. Advocate Sonwabile impressed on the guests the significance of the government supporting initiatives like SATMAs.

Nominees were announced across well over 30 categories, including Best Isicathamiya Album, Best African Jazz Album, Best TshiVenda Album, and the popular Best Poet category. Cassper Nyovest and K.O will slug it out for best Traditional Hip Hop category.

SATMA Awards will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2015 at the University of Zululand in eMpangeni under uThungulu District Municipality, hosted by The City of uMhlathuze.
