A five-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by a man and two women in Braamfischer, Soweto, Gauteng police said on Monday.

The girl and her 16-year-old sister were alone in the house in Braamfischer at around 8am when the three arrived in an SUV vehicle, said spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

"They told the girls that their grandmother was looking for them and that they should come along to Meadowlands with them. When they got to Meadowlands, the vehicle made a u-turn back to Braamfischer."

Upon arrival at Braamfischer, the two women gave the 16-year-old a R10 note and bought the five-year-old a cold drink.

"They then drove away with the five-year-old. A case of missing person has been opened," Makhubela said.

No arrests have been made.
