Have fun making your jaffel

8 slices white bread

Butter for spreading

80 ml (? c) tomato sauce

125 ml (½ c) mozzarella cheese, grated

8 slices ham

½ green pepper, sliced

100g mushrooms, sliced

50g cheddar cheese, grated

  1. Spread each slice of bread with butter.
  2. Place four slices of bread butter- side down. Spread with tomato sauce and top with the mozzarella cheese, ham, peppers, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. Close up with the remaining slices of bread, butter side up.
  3. Place one sandwich in a jaffel iron and toast over the braai or a medium flame on a gas stove for about 3 minutes each side. Serve immediately.
