The Standard Bank in Fourways, north of Johannesburg, was robbed.

The Standard Bank in Fourways, north of Johannesburg, was robbed on Thursday afternoon, Gauteng police said. "Five men entered the bank around 2pm, and ordered the bank manager to take them to the safe," Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng. The men stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.

"It is unclear if the men were harmed as no shots were fired," said Mofokeng.

Standard Bank spokesman Ross Linstrom said trauma counsellors were consulting the staff and customers who were involved.

"The safety and well-being of our clients and staff are a big priority," said Linstrom.

No arrests had been made and police were investigating.
