Terry Pheto's grip on the international acting scene is starting to firm up

The actress has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for playing Naledi Khama in the film A United Kingdom.

Her nomination is for the prestigious British Independent Film Awards (BIFA)

Based on a true story, the movie follows love story of Seretse Khama (played by David Oyelowo) who brought the world to a stand still when he married a white bank clerk in 1948, at a time where interracial marriages were illegal.

It also features award-winning actor, Vusi Kunene who plays the character of Seretse’s uncle, Tshekedi Khama and Pheto plays the character of Seretse’s sister, Naledi Khama.

A United Kingdom opens up in cinemas this December.
