Mzansi’s leading lady Terry Pheto shared the importance of every woman learning to accept themselves and their bodies.

Opening up to BONA Magazine recently, Terry said, “We are all different. I look at an actress like Octavia Spencer, who doesn’t look like Naomie Harris. But, she is successful because somewhere out there is a woman who can only relate to her. I strive to look as real as possible,” Terry explains.

Terry says her sentiments come from being in the entertainment industry where celebrities are always criticised for their looks, especially on social media pages. She say even though she has never been criticised personally, she has always loved her body.

“I’ve never put myself under any kind of pressure to impress anyone. I am in my 30s and my body is changing; there are certain things that I cannot help. And if I don’t celebrate every step, I am cheating myself. It is especially important to celebrate yourself when you’re in the public eye,” Terry says.

Terry Pheto is currently playing the role of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in the mini- series called Madiba that aired at 8 p.m. on 1,8 and 15 February on BET.
