As well as being a headstrong businesswoman, she’s also a sucker for philanthropy and projects that seek to empower others.

Ayanda Ncwane runs Ncwane Communications, a successful multimedia company that manages award-winning gospel crooner and her hubby Sfiso Ncwane and organises the successful Gospel All Stars event on 31 December annually in Durban.

In what is a first for her home town, Ndwedwe in Natal, Ayanda is forging ahead with one of her brilliant community-building ideas, Ayanda Ncwane Women's Carnival.

According to the press release, the Women’s Carnival will allow the women of the community in Durban to voice their concerns and exhibit their businesses.

According to Ayanda, the event is aimed at developing women from rural communities starting in Ndwedwe.

"As a young woman in business, who is not ashamed to mention that she was born and raised in the rural areas, this programme is very dear to me. It is an honour for me to be a role model to most of the young women I am currently grooming to be successful people in the near future."

Taking place on the Saturday 27 August, the Women's Carnival will be a one-day event and the proceedings will climax in a music concert featuring eight musicians and three motivational speakers.

“The day will commence with a short-distance walk,” she said. “The main aim of the walk is to drive a strong message against gender-based violence, sexual harassment or abuse, women exploitation in communities and work environments, women’s right to education and saying no to under-aged girls being forced into marriages (ukuthwala).

"The third and most important segment will be the exhibition. Women who have developing businesses but struggle with finances will have a chance to market and sell their business ideas to qualified adjudicators, and the most promising business idea will get a substantial amount of cash to help it develop.”

The inaugural Ayanda Ncwane Women's Carnival will be held at Nombika Sports Grounds in Ndwedwe on Saturday 27 August from 8 am until late.
