She reads the lines for her new show like the pro she is and takes ownership of the set with complete confidence. It’s hard to believe that just a year ago TV star Precious Kofi’s career was nearly destroyed by bad relationships and bad financial decisions that left her penniless.

“I can’t talk to you right now because we’ll be shooting the whole day, so it’s best we do the interview tomorrow,” she says apologetically during a break.

She’s busy shooting Mgongo, a new show which explores Sony sound systems and music acts such as Lira and Malaika among others, set to air on Mzansi Magic every Thursday from October 11 at 7.30 pm.

It will be the first time that the 24-year-old speaks about the rough year she’s had –  so bad that she had to move back in with her mother, Brenda Kofi (43), who lives in Cape Town’s Hout Bay.

But being back on TV is not the only thing that is making the young lady smile – she’s also engaged to be married in a few months.

“Ndiyathandwa ke qha (I am loved),” she bursts out, even though she doesn’t want to name her American fiancé.
