Are you a Saint or a Sinner? If you still aren’t sure, well, worry not, because Mzansi Magic drama series Saints and Sinners is coming back for the second season.

The channel has decided to bring the popular drama series back for yet another season. The 13-part first season was launched to great acclaim last year, and its memorable moments included the tragic death of a young character whose demise devastated his loved ones and fractured a once solid marriage. The action escalated and culminated in a gripping cliff-hanger finale that saw leading lady Phindi being kidnapped.

Season two will pick up the story from this suspenseful point, and explore the damaging consequences that this dark act has had on the lives of so many characters. It will include the rediscovery of a long-lost father while an overbearing woman finds herself at odds with her shattered family. The drama series take us through revenge, forgiveness, destruction and redemption. There is trust and betrayal lurking under the surface, with the new tagline, ‘A Second Season Grounded in Truths’.

According to M-Net Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Nkateko Mabaso, their audience have demonstrated that they’ll keep engaging with dramatic storylines if these are well-scripted and well executed. “Simultaneously relevant and escapist, and populated with characters who are highly believable – these were the key ingredients in the success last season and it is what will continue to fuel the viewership in season two,” Nkateko promises.

The cast of the series remains unchanged and includes the talents of: Thuso Mbedo (Boni Khumalo), Nthathi Moshesh (Mamohato Khumalo), S’dumo Mtshali (Ndumiso Khumalo), Tumiso Masha (Gibson Mosia), Siyabonga Radeba (Phakamani Makhoba) and Sibulele Gcilitshana (Lulama Moloiswa). Saints and Sinners is produced for Mzansi Magic by Penguin Films, and premieres on DStv channel 161 on Sunday, 10 January at 8PM.
