A crash on the Free State N3 has left 3 dead and a number injured

A crash on the Free State N3 has claimed the lives of three people including a four year old and has left eleven others injured.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has identified a  burst tyre as the cause of the accident.

Spokesperson of the RTMC, Simon Zwane, has said that the main factors contributing to accidents on the national roads over the Easter weekend are unroadworthy vehicles and motorists driving at excessive speeds.

Three motorists have been arrested in the Free State for driving at excessive speeds of 181, 185 and 161 km/h respectively on the highways.

"We are maintaining our visibility on the roads. We are on full alert and will monitor people who break the law," Zwane said.

Zwane has also said that more accidents had occurred in the Free State and Mpumalanga but have luckily not resulted in any deaths.
