Today in history: Muhammad Ali defeats Charles Liston

On 25 February 1964, Cassius Marcellus Clay also known as Muhammad Ali, fought Charles "Sonny" Liston for the heavyweight title in Miami, Florida.

Liston tried for a swift knockout, but Ali was too fast to catch. By the 7th round, Liston was too exhausted, had hurt his shoulder, and suffered a cut under his eye. Liston refused to continue the fight, leading to Ali being crowed the heavyweight boxing champion of the world.\
