Zweledinga Pallo Jordan was born on May 22 1942 at B Location Kroonstad in the Free State province.

His father was a professor, african novelist and academic while his mother was a doctor, teacher, researcher and lecturer.

Jordan became the Minister of Arts and Culture in 2004 under the Thabo Mbeki administration.

The former minister came under fire recently when his qualifications were proved to be false, following an investigation by South African newspaper Sunday Times.

Jordan had misrepresented himself as a doctor for many years, claiming that he had obtained his degree at Wisconsin-Madison in the USA.
