Mourners have started to arrive in the Eastern Cape Province on route to Qunu, for former president Nelson Mandela’s state funeral on Sunday.

With the rain not letting up, some of the main roads in the province are wet and slippery.

Tens thousands of South Africans, heads of state, prime ministers and celebrities are expected to attend the funeral. Among those expected to arrive in the next few days include Rev. Jesse Jackson, who last saw Mandela two years ago in Johannesburg.

During that meeting, Jackson said he and Mandela had a "long talk" about civil rights struggles in South Africa and the United States, and about persecution and forgiveness.

Motorist traveling to Qunu are advised to obey the speed limit as visibility is bad because of the weather.
