Two men were arrested in Kimberley on Sunday for possession of 39kg of dagga, Northern Cape police said.

Lieutenant Donald Mdhluli said the men aged 52 and 24, were arrested after the police received a tip-off that two men were carrying dagga from the Free State.

He said the men were arrested at the Indian Centre in Kimberley on Sunday at 2.45pm.

"The estimated street value of this dagga is about R40,000."

The men are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court soon on charges of possession of drugs, Mdhluli added.

The investigation continues.
