After an attack on two uber vehicles by metre taxi drivers outside Sandton Gautrain station, Uber services have been suspended in Sandton.

Uber South Africa via its Twitter page explained that they are aware of the incident saying; “We are aware of the intimidation occurring at Sandton Gautrain Station and are taking all of the necessary steps to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We are working with private security‚ JMPD‚ SAPS‚ Gautrain and all other relevant stakeholders as we’re deeply committed to rider and driver safety”.

The company added: “Driver partners have access to an emergency line in the event that they feel unsafe in any way”.

According to reports the two cars involved in the incident were damaged and the drivers sustained minor injuries.
