"People are entitled to say whatever they want. However, if I couldn't sing then I would've failed a long time ago," -Unathi

DJ, singer and Idols judge Unathi Msengana is one of those people who has been given a lot of flack by the public on social media. She opened up to BONA magazine on how she handled that 'hate' and how it affected her.

"I was the laughing stock at shopping malls, social media and every public place," Unathi tells BONA on how people reacted to her when she was overweight. She had gained 28 kgs since her last child daughter Imbo. She has since lost the weight.

Unathi also tells BONA that even though she gets hurt about comments on her singing she doesn't take them seriously. "People are entitled to say whatever they want. However, if I couldn't sing then I would've failed a long time ago," she says to the magazine.

The star also speaks openly to BONA about how she felt hurt after a picture of her without make up went viral on social media. "Having something like that happen is obviosly hurtful, but I get over things like that quickly. What lingers is the sadness at where we are as black women; we tend to pull each other down and give men more power," she tells BONA.
