Less than a day after American police appealed to the public via Twitter to help them identify a baby abandoned on a New York subway platform, the woman who left the baby was found. It’s believed the infant was pushed out of a train onto a busy platform in her stroller before the woman with her simply got back on the train and left.

Police released security camera footage of the woman and the little girl in an effort to identify either one of them and just a few hours later the 20-year-old woman was found. She’s currently being questioned and charges are pending.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon and a concerned passerby stayed with the baby for about 20 minutes in the hope the woman would return. When she didn’t, police were called and the baby, believed to be about seven months old, was taken to a nearby hospital. She was unharmed and remains in the care of New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services.
