A woman has been jailed after failing to return a video she rented nine years ago.

Kayla Michelle Finley rented 'Monster in Law' starring Jennifer Lopez from Dalton Video in 2005 but reportedly never gave the movie back to the shop.

The 27-year-old was arrested on Thursday after going to her local county sheriff's office in South Carolina, in the southeastern United States, to report a crime when police noticed a warrant issued in her name.

Kayla was forced to spend the night in jail following the incident, even though the rental company has since gone out of business.

She later wrote on her Facebook account: "It's obvious that Pickens County has nothing better to do. I fully intend on fighting this. It's ridiculous that I had this happen to me."

She denies receiving letters warning her of the overdue video and has been released after paying a $2000 bond.
