Well-known for her role as crazy Zodwa on SABC1’s Generations, actress Xoli Zondi is now showing off her skills on a new show

Playing the part of a psychotic person isn’t easy.

But Xoli Zondi (32) took on the character of Zodwa on Generations with such skill that it became tough to disassociate her from her deranged role.

Now, more than two years after leaving the former hit show, the actress is at last moving on to different things. “I want people to understand that I am an actor, which means I can play a bag,” she chuckles.

She also tells us she has great admiration for her former colleagues who were fired from the soapie, and she notes that it was only after they left that they started getting better roles.

She cites two examples: Thato Molamu, who played her on-screen lover Nicholas Nomvete, and Thami Mngqolo, who played Senzo Dlomo.

“Thami was boxed as a gay guy on Generations – look at him now!” she says with obvious pride.

And she has more reason to gush over the guys – the trio has been reunited as part of a talented A-list cast on Mzansi Magic’s new drama series, Greed and Desire.
