With the matric exams behind her, Lebogang Ashleigh Fisher, the 17-year-old aspiring actress from the Glen High School in Pretoria, is preparing to head for the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in the US where she will study film acting.

But before she heads for New York in September 2014, she has to make a trip to Orlando, Florida, also in the US to participate in the Aspiring Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) in June 2014.

Both opportunities came about after she had to perform in rigorous auditions earlier this year.

“For the past few months I have been focussing on my matric studies and I am hoping to do well. Now that the exams are over I can focus on my studies to be an actress and there is nothing more exciting for me right now,” said Lebo.

Her recent achievements include landing the lead role in a television commercial for the Disney channel, as well as working with American author Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues) and American acting coach Michelle Danner.

While at the Glen High School, Lebo completed a two-year acting course at the Barnyard Theatre at Menlyn Mall with acting coach and AFDA graduate Melissa Lottering.  At the Glen she played the lead role in school productions such as Pride and Prejudice where she played Elizabeth Bennett.

She has modelled at the Baba Indaba and strutted her stuff for aspiring designers at the U"ber Glam Fashion Show.

Before moving to Pretoria, her parents Anton and Nompumelelo were working and living with the family in Bloemfontein. In her seventh grade at Eunice Girls School in Bloemfontein, she was choir head girl and member of Eunice Primary School’s elite ensemble and marimba band. She also had roles in  “Oliver!” and “Anna and the King” at Eunice.

“We are very proud of Lebo. She is a very level-headed and determined teenager who will surely do great things with her chosen career as an actress,” said her mother Nompumelelo.
