Rulers Must Be Cut Down To Size
Any political party that considers any political party to be a ‘Ruling Party’ will not get my X on Wednesday. By definition, the Constitutional Democracy of South Africa means that we do not subscribe to the antiquated concept of a Monarchy with a ruler, rulers or the oxymoronic concept of a ruling party.
President Mandela never referred to the ‘ruling party, ‘rulers’ or government ‘power’ - because he was a leader, not a ruler. Leaders don’t rule and rulers don’t lead. President Mandela knew that leaders lead, presidents preside and governments govern.
The only use for a ruler is to record measurement. And if any present day South African government expects to rule, it should expect to be measured accordingly. A government of rulers begets a nation of rebels.
The media should exercise diligence in promoting democratic principles and concepts. And we, the electorate, need to speak out against unconstitutional, oppressive language.
My X on Wednesday will assert my constitutional right to exercise my power to choose my government. I do not hand over my power to anyone or anything for five years. I am selecting who I believe will best serve our collective interests - paid for by us, the taxpayer. I am no one’s sacrificial subject. I am no one’s blind mouse.
We worked for the power of X. We celebrate the power of X. We exercise the power of X. We pay for the power of X. I am the master of my destiny. And proudly the power of one.
