Voting in Abu Dhabi

My brother (Arnold Carstens) and I (Sue-Ellen Hilgemann) voted at the SA embassy in Abu Dhabi this morning. Very proud and exciting moment for both of us. Waiting time was only about 1 hour and the atmosphere was great!

The only disappointment was seeing so many people showing up without Passports, IDs etc and especially those who apparently were on the voters roll, but did not realise that they were supposed to have done the Vec10 application. Even worse was that during my wait at least 3 voters who were registered and had Vec10 confirmation , somehow did not appear on the voters roll and could not cast their votes.

Hopefully smooth sailing for the rest of the day.

Regards from a "Proudly South-African".

Smaller parties, notably, took a beating. AGANG never made it to the start and COPE became a footnote. The IFP's support was halved, a prime reason being the NFP (IFP rebels), entering the KZN political arena.
