ANC, DA, EFF dominate in provinces

Pretoria - The ANC, DA and the EFF were dominating the top three spots in most provinces in the fifth democratic elections by lunch time on Thursday.

Newcomers, the Economic Freedom Fighters, could be the official opposition in Limpopo where it had 58 339 of the votes counted so far - 9.41%.

The African National Congress was dominating the province with 486 965 votes, making up 78.58% of the total vote so far  and the Democratic Alliance was in third place with 47 722, which represented 7.70%.

Julius Malema's EFF was holding third place in the Free State with 30 672 (7.86%) votes, in Gauteng with 59 233 (8.37%), in the Western Cape with 36 039 (2.14%), in Mpumalanga with 70 615 (6.02%), North West with 56 380 (10.73%) and in the Northern Cape with 19 876 (4.89%).

Province

The ANC was leading in all provinces, except the Western Cape where the DA was leading with 972 707 (57.78%) to the ANC's 562 118 votes (33.39%).

In the Eastern Cape, the ANC and DA were in the first and second slots so far with 185 128 (73.90%) and 99 751 (13.68%).

The United Democratic Movement was third in the province so far with 64 860 (4.79%).

In KwaZulu-Natal the Inkhata Freedom Party was in second spot with 184 446 votes (12.70%) compared to the ANC's just more than 954 536 votes (65.73%). The DA was in third place with 138 803 (9.56%).
