Johannesburg - Hundreds of ANC supporters gathered at a stadium in Eldorado Park, Soweto, ahead of the party's election campaign on Saturday.

African National Congress secretary general Gwede Mantashe is expected to address the crowd as part of its campaign ahead of the general elections on 7 May.

ANC supporters wore yellow T-shirts bearing the words "Together we move South Africa forward".

A choir entertained the crowd, singing songs about President Jacob Zuma, who celebrates his 72nd birthday on Saturday.
