DA not aiming for 30% - Zille

2014-04-23 07:24

Cape Town - DA leader Helen Zille says her party does not expect to get 30% of the vote in the upcoming national election.

Speaking to New24, Zille said the 30% figure may have been possible had it not been for the emergence of new political parties.

In 2011, the Democratic Alliance announced it was targeting 30% of the national vote in the 2014 elections, but earlier this year it appeared to have abandoned the target.

"What we are doing is focusing on maximising the votes we can get," Zille said.
