Johannesburg - Two men convicted of assaulting DA members putting up election posters in Shatale, Bushbuckridge, were not ANC members, the party said on Thursday.

"They are not our members, they are not ANC members," ANC regional secretary Mandla Ndlovu said.

The two were sentenced to three months in jail and a R1 000 fine by the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday.

DA spokesperson Phillip Mkhombo has claimed that Lionel Makhubedu and Prayer Mokoena were ANC members.
