All our ducks are in a row - Free State IEC

2016-03-03 14:57

Bloemfontein – The Free State is ready for voter registration this weekend, the Independent Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) said on Thursday.

Provincial IEC head Jabulani Tshabalala told News24 that they had deployed 1 533 registration supervisors, 317 area managers and 117 registration officers for the weekend.

"All our ducks are in a row for this weekend and we are more focused on encouraging the youth to register to vote."

Tshabalala called on residents to visit one of the 1 533 voting district across the province to confirm their registrations status and also check if their current addresses correlated with the information captured.

Voting districts will be open from 08:00 until 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

"We encourage our people to come and exercise their rights and we promise to treat them with respect and integrity they deserve."

The second registration week will be on April 9 and 10.
