EFF: Celebrate Malema's 35th birthday by registering to vote

Johannesburg - What would make a perfect birthday gift for the EFF's Commander in Chief, Julius Malema?

According to his party, the best way to celebrate him and his cause would be for the public to register this weekend for the local government elections.

"On your birthday, we call on all the people of South Africa to celebrate you by registering to vote on the 5-6 March 2016, in particular the youth," said Economic Freedom Fighters spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, in reference to the party's leader.

Malema turned 35 on Thursday.

Ndlozi wished Malema well and said he had made an impact on history like 1976 Soweto uprising student leader Tsietsi Mashinini, Black Consciousness Movement leader Steve Biko, Argentinean Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, and founding ANC Youth League president Anton Lembede.

Ndlozi said Malema's life was an inspiration. He described him as a "tried and tested solider of the economic emancipation movement" who had lived the life of an outcast for speaking the truth to power.

Ndlozi said there was nothing formal planned for Malema's special day.
