Johannesburg – Coalition politics would help unseat the ruling ANC, the Freedom Front Plus said following the launch of its local government election manifesto launch over the weekend.

“The Freedom Front Plus intends to form coalitions with other opposition parties,” said FF Plus leader, Pieter Mulder, in a speech prepared for delivery at the launch held in Pretoria on Saturday.

“This is how the ANC in certain metros and cities will be ousted. It is the only way local councils will be saved and necessary adjustments made," said Mulder.

Mulder predicted that the trend for coalition governments would increase in this year’s elections.

“To still win against the ANC, the answer lies in coalitions; of which there will be many more in this election.

Mulder also said that his party’s membership was growing, having “increased by 20%” since 2014.
