2016-03-16 15:49

Cape Town – The National Assembly has unanimously approved the nomination of Janet Love as a candidate to fill a vacancy within the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC).

Making declarations during the motion, parties reiterated their concerns over the integrity of the IEC.

Parties lauded the committee for choosing a woman to fill the post.

Both the EFF and the DA claimed to have nominated Love for the post, each party claiming to have advocated for the minister.

Parties said they had been calling for a credible IEC and would continue to do so.

The nomination was carried with 309 MPs voting in favour, and no abstentions or no’s.
