Pretoria - The ANC has confirmed that former minister Thoko Didiza has been named the party's mayoral candidate for Tshwane.

Find out how the ANC has fared in previous local government elections in Tshwane.

"The name of comrade Thoko Didiza was nominated and unanimously endorsed," deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte told reporters on Monday.

"We are confident she will hail on solid foundation laid by Kgosientso Ramokgopa."

Duarte explained that the Provincial Executive Committee was not convinced by the names that had been submitted for the position before Didiza was roped in.
