Amor talks about 'other man'

Johannesburg – Singer Amor Vittone has told of the "relationship" which led estranged husband Joost van der Westhuizen to file for divorce.

But the singer said it was "only a flirtation".

She said she and "sexy" Chris, a married Canadian, did nothing more than exchange a few emails.

Rapport also revealed on Sunday that Amor had obtained an interdict in terms of the family violence act against Joost.

Amor said she pretended to have a relationship with Chris, whom she met when she and her two children visited her sister in Canada. During a braai there, she said she suspected that Van der Westhuizen was having her investigated.

"My brother-in-law, Michael Agrette, is a big practical joker. He said he didn't think Joost would do that and suggested that I flirt with someone over email."

"He said: 'Choose a sexy man'. So I chose Chris. And I did it. We started sending emails." 

But two weeks ago, Joost came to Amor with a big file full of cellphone statements and emails between her and Chris. He confronted her about the correspondence and she realised that Joost did have her investigated.

Amor had in the past received threatening calls and letters saying she was being watched.

Amor said she now realised it was wrong to try and catch out Joost. She had since broken off her correspondence with Chris.

"I don't know what the fuss is about the third party. I am a singe woman who can flirt with whom I want. It was a joke. I am not having sex with anyone. It is not in my character."
