Country music celebrated at awards

Universal City, California - Lee Ann Womack has faith she'll take home a statuette from the
Academy of Country Music Awards on Wednesday night. But Faith also
stands in her way.
Womack, who is up against Faith Hill in several categories
including female vocalist, said a friendly award-show rivalry has
evolved between the two country divas.
"I've gotten so used to losing to Faith Hill that it's become
commonplace for me," Womack joked on Tuesday. "If you're going to lose
to somebody, it might as well be Faith."
Also offering strong competition is fellow country star Toby Keith.
Both went into the competition with a leading six nominations.
Womack's other nominations include one for best song for "I Hope
You Dance". The often-overlooked Keith is also competing in that
category this year with his confrontational ballad "How Do You Like
Me Now?!" Each performer also has nominations for best album and
single.
Other multiple nominees are Hill and Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks,
Billy Gilman, Brad Paisley, Jamie O'Neal, John Michael Montgomery,
George Strait and Brooks & Dunn.
Entertainer of the year nominations went to Brooks & Dunn, Dixie
Chicks, Hill, Keith and Strait.
