Depp is rubbish - critic

London - BBC Film critic Mark Kermode says he is amazed Johnny Depp has been nominated for a Bafta.
Depp is among the contenders for Best Actor in the Orange British Academy Films Awards.
Kermode said: "Everyone loves Pirates of the Caribbean but I needed to check again - is Johnny Depp up for a Bafta for best actor in a leading role? Yes, he really is!
"I thought he was rubbish. There was absolutely no merit in his performance."
But Kermode, who is the film critic for BBC Radio 5 Live and the New Statesman, was full of praise for some of the other contenders.
He tipped Anne Reid to win the Best Actress award for her role in The Mother and Paul Bettany to be named Best Supporting Actor for Master and Commander.
Kermode said Cold Mountain and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King were clear frontrunners to win the most awards overall on February 15.
He also tipped the third part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy to make it a hat-trick of wins in the Orange Film of the Year public vote. - Ananova.com
